Handmade Snowman Ornament

This little Christmas tree ornament has to be my favorite little handmade craft ever.  EVER!  It’s made with Logan’s handprint – each finger is a snowman!  It’s literally a “handmade” gift!  I absolutely ADORE my Logi’s hands and to have his handprint on an ornament?  AND they’re tiny smiling, scarf-wearing snowmen?!  Oh my goodness!  I… can’t… even… handle… it!  Gahhhhh!

He made it at school and was so excited to present it to me.  He knows how much I appreciate his handmade gifts.

It’s so cute, but delicate.  I’m already worrying about how to preserve this ornament for years and years to come.  I almost dropped it as I was photographing and even almost pushed the tree over just to save it.  But I did catch it in time without incident!  Whew!

Step 2: Make Ear Flaps

Continue with White. Make first ear flap.

Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 1 dc in next 11 sts. (12 sts total)

Ch 1, 1 sc in each st all around bottom of edge of beanie to finish off. Tie off and weave in ends.

Step 3: Make Pom-Pom

Use white. Pom-pom is approximately 2½” to 3½” based on your preference.

  1. Wrap yarn around hand approximately 20 times and remove from hand.
  2. Use 8” yarn piece to tie a secure knot in the middle.
  3. Cut all ends to create pom-pom.
  4. Ends will be uneven. Trim down to size.

Crochet Santa Hat

Every year around this time, I like to make my Logi crochet beanies to keep his little head warm.  I’ve made so many over the years, I can’t remember them all.  I wish I had this blog from the very beginning so I could’ve documented them all.  The only other beanie I’ve blogged about in the past, was the Minion beanie.  But from now on, I’ll post about every beanie I make.  Promise  :)

I remember how cute Logi looked in his Christmas beanie from 2012 when he was only 2 years old, photo above.  He loved it so much that he wore it through March of the following year!  That made me wanted to make it again for him this year, so I did.

He loves it.  I love it.  What I love most about it though, is when we’re out in public and strangers will comment about how much they like his beanie.  He’ll say, “Thank you, my mama made it for me!”  ***SWOON!***

The back is just as cute.  A pom-pom on top for extra cuteness, and ear flaps for extra warmth this cold winter.  It was 39 degrees last night.  I know, I know.  Everywhere else in the country, it’s like 39 degrees BELOW ZERO, and I shouldn’t complain.  But we’re L.A. folks and we panic if the temperature drops below 70 degrees!  So 39 degrees feels pretty extreme!

Thanks for stopping in today!  Hope you’re staying warm!
