Oh Clementine Quilt

Finished Quilt Size: 42″ by 44″

This quilt came together so fast!  It was a fun one to sew – just jelly roll strips sewn together.  I zipped right through it on my sewing machine!

Sewing Room, mini quilts, mini quilt wall, cats on quilts, cat quilt, cloud 9 fabrics quilt, vintage quiltI have a new addition to my mini quilts wall… my Cat Face quilt, the miniature version!  This was made with the extra quilt blocks from my Cat Face Quilt.  I didn’t want to scrap them so I made a mini quilt.

Sewing Room, mini quilts, mini quilt wall, cats on quilts, cat quilt, cloud 9 fabrics quilt, vintage quiltI need to get more mini quilts up there.  The empty spot on the bottom right is very noticeable to me now that I’m looking at the photo.  I should definitely start working on at least one more very soon to fill that hole.  I’ll keep you posted on my progress!

flowers quilt, poppies, daffodils, floral quilt, quilt showLast weekend, the Glendale Quilt Guild hosted their 36th annual Quilt Show and Retreat at the Pasadena Convention Center.  The theme of this year’s show was called “Home is Where the Quilt Is,” featuring many quilts with house blocks in them.   They had so many quilts on display, as well as workshops and vendors.  The flower quilt above is my favorite from the show.  This quilt has everything I love about quilting – flowers, patchwork, and vibrant colors!

Glendale Quilt Guild Quilt Show-12I wasn’t thinking of upgrading my sewing machine just yet but after trying out the Pfaff Quilt Expression 4.2……. I can’t stop thinking about it!!!  It has so many useful features and it just runs so much smoother than my current machine.  It’s so quiet!  I would actually be able to quilt at night if I had this machine!  Sooooo quiet!  Being use to my noisy machine, I didn’t even know that sewing machines could be so quiet as this one.  Can’t. Stop. Thinking. About. It!

Glendale Quilt Guild Quilt Show-10I tried out the Husqvarna Viking Quilting Machine as well.  What a dream to be able to free motion quilt with such an open space!

Glendale Quilt Guild Quilt Show-11 Glendale Quilt Guild Quilt Show-14I also test drove the Juki long arm quilting machine.  Wow!  To move with so much freedom on that frame and just go, go, go!  It was really fast and that stitch regulator makes a WORLD OF A DIFFERENCE!  With that kind of a price tag though… I’ll have to wait a while.  Besides, how would such a large machine fit in my tiny apartment?!  This machine with his frame would take up my entire living room!  (I don’t think I would mind giving up my living room to own such a machine.)

It was a nice day at the quilt show and I talked with so many vendors and quilters.  It’s always fun to “shop talk.”  It was also really nice to bring Logi and let him see all the different quilts that people have made and include him in this part of my life as well.  I love quilt shows and I need to find out when another one is coming to town!

Wiltshire Daisy Quilt-4Hi quilty folks!  Just some photos of Logan today.  These were taken after I finished my last project, Wiltshire Daisy Quilt.  He’s the best quilty helper in the world!  He always wants to help me model the quilts and stylize the photo shoot.  He also always wants to lay and roll around on the quilts.

Wiltshire Daisy Quilt-3I love that geeky smile.  Next to him is his “Puppy.”  We’ve had him for 4 years now and he’s only received 1 wash in the washing machine.  He’s seen cleaner and fluffier days.  He goes every where with Logi.
Wiltshire Daisy Quilta-4Just as I was about to take the shot, his head popped up!

Wiltshire Daisy Quilta-3He also likes to try to hold up the quilts for me.  I always tell him these shots are ridiculous.  I can see his little hands.  And even if he hid his little hands, the quilt would look silly just suspended in the air like that, in the middle of a grassy field in the park!

Wiltshire Daisy Quilt-2He said, “there’s good light here, mama.”  He’s been learning quite a bit about photography from me, but even I am still learning every day.  I might get him a real camera soon.  He currently has a Playskool camera but it’s definitely time for an upgrade.  I was thinking of either a low end DSLR or a Polaroid.  I’m sure he would have fun with the instant prints but I know those get costly.  And with the impulse of a 4-year-old… maybe that’s not the best idea.  I’m still thinking about it.

Wiltshire Daisy Quilta-2He does a lot of rolling around in the grass while I’m taking photos of the quilts.

Anyways, I just wanted to be a mom today and post about my kid.  He really is my best friend.  Life is so much sweeter because I have him.  <3
