Wiltshire Daisy Quilt

Finished Quilt Size: 55″ by 60″

It’s time to share the results of my Wiltshire Daisy Quilt! I am so thrilled to have finally completed this project and I snapped a few photos before I sent it on its way to its new owner, a little 15-month old girl.  This was a custom quilt order, using designer fabrics from Riley Blake Designs new fabric line called Wiltshire Daisy.  The little girl’s mother loved my Rosey Triangle Quilt, and wanted her custom quilt to look like it.

So once we finished, we were off to the park for the photo shoot!  I had my favorite little helper with me.

This project was so much fun and I hope I receive more custom orders.  I really enjoy the designing and creative process that goes into making these quilts.  If you are interested in a custom quilt for you or to give as a gift to someone special, don’t hesitate to contact me.  Let’s design one together!

Thanks for stopping in today!  Until next time!

Geisha Quilt, Japanese QuiltHi Quilting Friends!

This past weekend I attended my first quilt show at the Ontario Convention Center, Road to California Quilters’ Conference & Showcase.  It… was… AMAZING!!!  I didn’t take nearly as many photos as I wanted to!  (Partly because a lot of the time, photos were not allowed.)  There were so many quilt entries that were mind blowing- amazing!  Awesome!  I just couldn’t get enough of them!  Quilters of all ages and backgrounds.  The quilt above, the Japanese quilt, was my favorite of all of them.  I love the colors, the women, the detail, the fact that it’s three dimensional with the addition of the cherry blossoms, and the quilting.  Oh my… just beautiful.  I’m sorry I didn’t get the info of the quilter that made it and the quilter’s name was not in the quilt book either, unfortunately.

There were so many vendors there and so many wonderful quilting notions and things to look at.  I came to the realization that I know absolutely NOTHING about quilting!  I didn’t know about all the different types of quilts and quilting methods, and gadgets and doodads used for quilting!  Most eye-opening experience was that I didn’t even know that quilting machines can run up to $20,000!  You bet I gave those machines a try!  It was awesome!

Here are some more photos from the quilt convention, including some quilt entries and super cute vendor booths.  I loved their displays!Quilt Convention Quilt Convention Quilt Convention Quilt Convention Quilt Convention Quilt ConventionQuilt Convention Quilt Convention Quilt ConventionPaint Cans Quilt, Watercolor QuiltFlowers Quilt, Landscape QuiltQuilt Convention Quilt Convention Quilt ConventionCan you believe that this pavilion was actually built over a parking lot?  Notice the trees that they had to work around?Quilt Convention Quilt ConventionCalendar Quilts, House QuiltsQuilt Convention Quilt ConventionThis is Shabby Fabrics booth and they had the best selection of fat quarter fabrics, in my opinion.  I am a big fan of floral prints and they had plenty of it!  I’ll have to upload a photo of the stash I bought from there in a later post.
Quilt ConventionI took a bunch of photos of this display because I kept thinking about how many patchwork quilts I could make from each individual box.  I was in fabric heaven, really!Quilt Convention Quilt ConventionAsian Quilts, Thailand Quits, Vietname, CambodiaQuilt Convention Quilt Convention Quilt ConventionI spent four hours at the convention and I didn’t even realize that I had been walking around for that long.  I didn’t even remember to eat.  I didn’t feel hunger.  I only felt the need to look at EVERYTHING and touch (where permitted) and just take it all in.  So many beautiful quilts!  I can truly appreciated the talent and the patience it takes to create such quilts.  I liked the vendor booths and seeing the latest quilting products.  I’m not really the quilter type that needs every new quilting notion that comes out.  I’m a practical quilter, but they are fun to look at and try out at the quilt shows.  They were handing out “save the dates” for next year’s quilt show and I already can’t wait to go back!  (January 21-24, 2016, Ontario Convention Center – www.road2ca.com) I believe there’s a different quilt convention in Los Angeles soon too.  I think it’s called QuiltCon… I’ll look into it.  It’s definitely something I’d really like to go to as well!

Finished Quilt Size: 36″ by 40″

I’m finally finished with my Cat Face Quilt for my little cousin, Quinton!  I don’t know how it took me almost three weeks but it did!  Ideally, I would like to quilt every day for at least a few hours.  It was my goal, actually.  But reality took a big bite out of that plan.  My schedule is so jammed pack with all my son’s classes and home study, and on top of that, I have to feed and bathe him on a daily basis!  He’s taking up all of my quilting time!  So really, I get to quilt about a couple of hours every other day… or so.  I suppose that’s enough time as long as quilts get finished, eventually.  I suppose… Logi needs to remain my top priority ;-)

So the Cat Face Quilt is ready just in time for Quinton’s 2nd birthday party, which is this weekend.  Get a look at his cute little face here.Quinton (1 of 1)-2The photo is almost a year old.  I hope I can get a nice updated photo of him at the party.

So up to this point, I’ve been doing a lot of straight-line quilting.  In my next quilt, I dare venture into the world of free-motion quilting.  I’ve ordered a darning foot for my little sewing machine and once it arrives, I’m going to start exploring this new world.  With focus and determination, I’m going to teach myself to free-hand my quilts and I’m going to like it!  Keep you posted on my progress!

Happy Friday!  I got in some gorgeous floral fabrics this week, “Christine” by Eleanor Burns.  Magentas, Purples, and blues… GORGEOUS! Please!  Oh my god!  Floral fabric, some stripes, and some polka dots… I’m so in love with every print!  I immediately cut and sewed them into half square triangles, not really knowing what kind of quilt it would become.  I just wanted to play with HST’s and just let it speak to me.  Oh little squares, what is your quilt destiny?!!!
